My Day at the Spa
I had a nice treat last week. My daughter had entered me in a Mother’s Day contest at The Body Shop, and I WON!
It took me a while to go in and claim the prize, I actually had to cancel twice, once because I had a bit of an eye infection and the second time because I had to do a trip out of town.
When I finally got in there, I was pampered with a free facial and makeover. Of course the main goal was to showcase all of their products. But it was a nice relaxing pampering session for baby K and I.
If you know anything about me, you know that I am a pretty “plain Jane” kind of girl. I don’t wear a bunch of makeup, and I normally have a really quick wash, moisturize and go routine in the morning.
As part of the “healthy me” lifestyle I am creating for myself. I am really putting effort into taking better care of myself, and that includes my skincare.
Some of the products that she showed me I actually really loved! Some of them not so much! I am referring to my skin specialist as “she” because like an idiot, I do not remember here name (I’m sorry, you did a great job)!
After losing all this weight I have a really BIG problem with an abundance of skin. The way it shows up in my face is that it makes me a bit…. droopy is a good word lol. Also as I am aging, I am getting some wrinkles and laugh lines.
My very favorite was a product the skin specialist told me was great for mature women (when did I get to be a mature women I’m not quite sure, lol). It’s call The Oils of Life, and is an anti-ageing product line. She used the Intensely Revitalizing Facial Oil on me, and if felt sooo good!
I have been using it at home, and I am seeing that my skin is actually starting to look … younger? It’s like the lines around my eyes seem less noticeable and that my “droop” isn’t so droopy.
I am going to be trying a few more products in the product line.
The other product that I really love is the Drops of Youth Youth Concentrate Serum.
Love this!!
I think it is probably a combination of the two, but my skin is really starting to look tighter and younger, less droopy, and more … finished.
I will have to update with some pictures.
As part of the makeover, I got a coupon for the Drops of Youth Liquid Peel, so will be going in to try that as well.
During the makeover and as we were chatting, I explained my extra skin issue from my weight loss, and she suggested a firming body coffee cream. So now that is also on my wish list.
I really enjoyed the facial and the product that she used on my skin. Sadly I didn’t book enough time and so we were very rushed toward the end of the treatment. Maybe that’s the reason that I didn’t enjoy the makeover part as much.
Not that I didn’t enjoy the pampering, the products were really nice and she did a great job, I just didn’t enjoy the end result. I felt “overdone”.
I didn’t get a chance to snap a before picture. But here is the end result.
All in all, it was a great experience. A huge thank you to The Body Shop in Lethbridge, and to my beautiful daughter Janine for thinking of me and entering my name. It was a really fun experience.
Us “mature ladies” (such a nice way of putting it lol) can use some extra help, so although I won’t be using all of their products as I don’t have that kind of time, I will definitely be using a few.
