Monday Meme and Live Results for my Healthy Weight Loss

tumblr_ms13c684E81s564mbo1_500Happy Monday!  Today is 6 full weeks since I have made a stand for Taking Care of Me and undertaking my Healthy Weight Loss Journey.  I’ll get to more about that in a minute.

I thought it might be kind of fun to add a Monday Meme each week as it relates to weight loss and health.  I find that adding humor and laughter to my day keeps me sane.  Soooo….. I thought I would start sharing these in hopes that it will put a smile on your face too.

I thought this one was perfect (because it is so me).  I can only EVER start a diet on a Monday.  If I it mess up, I will have to try again next week, lol!

Anyway, as I said today is a full 6 weeks that I have been eating Low Carb High Fat and working on my healthy weight loss.  I was really hoping for a full 30 pounds today, but I can only record it as a 28.5 loss.  Don’t get me wrong, I am thrilled with 28.5 pounds.  In 6 weeks, are you kidding me?!  That is terrific!!

I went to my nieces birthday dinner last night and I think I may have indulged a bit too much.  My sister and brother-in-law always put on a terrific meal.  I stayed low carb, but I did have an extra burger which I probably should not have done.  It was too much food and made me feel uncomfortable for the rest of the night.

The menu was burgers and dogs, potato chips, caesar salad and then cake and cupcakes for dessert.  I did great, only burgers with bacon and cheese, but no buns and caesar salad.

But….. I was having a really hard time not diving face first into the bag of potato chips.

I have had a really busy/stressful week and as you know if you have been reading along, potato chips are my comfort/stress relief food.  I did it!! Not one little crumb, but I did have the extra burger to try and satisfy that need and I should not have.

I have a new little mini-challenge for myself.  I have 6 weeks until I have a big event coming up in my life, and I would like to lose another 15-20 pounds before then.  In order to accomplish this, I will need to lose between 2.5 and 3.5 pounds each week.  It is totally doable, but I really need to keep my focus.

I have been having coconut oil every morning in my coffee this week, and have really come to enjoy that.  I also have started using it as a skin moisturizer.

I can’t blame any specific live results on the use of coconut oil yet, but I do feel like it gives me more energy and I am hoping to see a great difference in using it as a skin moisturizer (I’ve only been doing that for a couple days so a bit to early to tell).

If you have been thinking of trying coconut oil, I would recommend it.  The brand that I am using is Omega Organic Coconut oil and you can grab some on Amazon.com (that’s my link).  I like it because it doesn’t have a lot of taste or odor.

In other news…

I have two fun and exciting things coming up in my world in October, last week there was a bit of stress and excitement going on in these two areas of my life.

My oldest daughter Janine is about to have a baby.  Well…. she originally wasn’t due until October 15.

JaninebellyThis past Friday, she called me really early in the morning in extreme pain.  I took her into the hospital and they ran some tests on baby.   Everything seems okay but just to be safe, we did a follow-up with the doctor in clinic later that day.  He checked her out and apparently baby is dropping and is in position to come at anytime.  It turns out that her due date (according to ultrasound is October 2nd).

She was in so much pain because baby was dropping quickly.  So to be safe she hung out with me all weekend.  I don’t want her being home alone if there is any chance that she may run into problems.  Feeling better yesterday, she went back home.  We follow up again with the doctor this afternoon.  I am thinking they will likely send her for another ultrasound this week.

Empty Nest Wish List

newbie-flight

One of the things that is prominent on my empty nest wish list is travel.  Even though I am still in a “pre-empty nest” situation, I have planned my first trip and it will be coming up shortly.

I will be going to Orlando Florida, and  I am coordinating my trip around an event that is coming up.  I will be taking a few extra days while I am there to do some fourth quarter preparation for my eCommerce business while I am in the U.S..  I will also be sure to take some time to see a few of the sights while I am there of course.

I am super excited about this!  The last time I was on a plane to go anywhere was probably 10 years ago when I took my son to Disneyland.  It is also making me a bit nervous.  Although I want to do a lot of traveling, I am by no means an experience traveler lol!

More to come on the event and the trip in future posts, let’s just say these two things took up a lot of my focus last week and will be taking up considerable focus in the next little while.

I am pretty pleased because I finally made the decision (back in August) to stop wishing for all of these things to come into my life, but instead start making them happen.

Instead of continually putting things off for this reason or that reason, I have decided to just go ahead and start living the life that I want to live.  It may not be the perfect timing for any of these things, but honestly would there ever be perfect timing?

The answer of course is no.  We can live our entire lives letting things and people come in between the life we have and the life we want.  OR, we can stop just talking about the some days and start making them actually happen!

Alright, time to go head off to the doctor. 🙂
