Dual Computer Monitors and Home Office Organization
Yesterday I told you about how I was in a panic because my computer monitor was dying. Although I normally buy online, this was a bit of a desperate situation for me and so I went out and picked up a couple of monitors locally.
I’ve always wanted to have dual monitors for my at home business. So this was the perfect opportunity.
But then, you know how it goes, once I started setting up the monitors, first I did not have the correct connector cable, then I need more storage to organize my work space and so by the end of Thursday, my desk and work space was in complete disarray.
Friday my job was to get the dual computer monitors functioning, and re organize my home office space. Which I did accomplish, although by the end of the day, I was to tired to get this post up to show you.
So first off once I had the actual cable that I needed to attach the second monitor, it was a snap. I took a picture of the back of my computer and so that I could show the tech guy at the store. He was able to easily get me the correct cable to hook up the second monitor, it was a HDMI to DVI Adapter Cable . When I got home all I had to do was plug it in, I had installed the required software the night before.
BAMM – I had two functioning monitors. Pretty cool, it will take me some time to get use to having dual computer monitors and decide how best to use the extra real-estate so to speak lol.
Next was the job of organizing my home office area. I have a very confined space to work in because my home office is in the corner of my living room. I like it that way because I can keep an eye on what’s going on with the kids AND I don’t feel like I’m locked in a back bedroom without any view all day every day. My desk is right next to my deck, so it’s nice to just be able to step outside and get some fresh air. The downside is the limited amount of space I have. I need to have some extra storage space for books, extra paper and that sort of thing. We happened to have an extra set of shelves (thanks mom) that will work perfectly in this space.
The set of shelves is very small, only 12 inches deep x about 30 inches high and 30 inches long. Very similar to this 3 shelf bookcase on Amazon.
I really like it because it holds everything I need without taking up much space. So I spent the rest of yesterday organizing my workspace to get a good flow. Although I do have a huge stack of filing to do, I feel a lot more freedom knowing that I am organized (YAY!!).
The next job will be going through the desk drawers and “de-cluttering” all the papers and junk that are inside. But that’s a different job for a different day!
The other thing that these pics show off AMAZINGLY WELL 😎 is how absolutely FILTHY my patio window are. :$ YIKES, that’s embarrassing, and a job that needs to get done today!!!
I’m feeling a lot better about my home office space. What area or space do you have to work in, I would love to hear your favorite organizational tips and tricks 🙂
