Super Cool Garage Sale Find: Now I’m Cooking with POWER

Not something many people know about me….

I HATE propane, it scares me!

I love outdoor grilling and BBQ season.  The smell of something cooking on the grill is my favorite smell of summer.

That smell of burgers on the grill just makes it feel like summer, doesn’t it?

I’ve tried to get over my fear, but it always brings me back to when we were growing up and watching my dad on the grill.  One day he came in and didn’t have any eyebrows left, another day it was the hair on his forearms!  I also watched once when my neighbors tank caught fire and did some major damage to the side of their house.

In my head I know these were only two small incidents and that propane grilling is safe and all good….  I just can’t get those images out of my head.

Anyway….

A few weeks ago, I was out with my circle friends doing a bit of garage sale shopping.  We came across this little ELECTRIC outdoor grill.

My electric patio grill is very similar in size to this one by Char-broil,  except that mine is by Charmglow.

It is absolutely nothing fancy, but this actual made my day!!  The size of it would make this type of grill an easy choice for if you go camping, or for an apartment patio.

YAY!!

I was so thrilled.  I can BBQ this year for my kids on an outdoor grill (I’ve been using the indoor grill but it takes a long time to cook for a family of 7).

For lunch today, I had to test it to see if it works, so I threw on some hot-dogs for a quick and easy lowcarb lunch.

Woohoo!!  It works.  So quick and easy.

Super easy clean up too with this silicone grill mat.  I didn’t even know these things existed!  All you have to do is set it on top the grill and cook as normal.  When you’re done, just wash it in hot soapy water and let it air dry on a flat surface.

It really saves the cleanup, and I’m all for anything that saves on time and cleaning 😀

First Family BBQ of the Year

I’m excited to have my eldest son over for dinner tomorrow night.  We will be having BBQ hamburgers, and my famous potato salad.  Two of our summer favorites.  Of course I’ll do a cauliflower version of the potato salad for me.

Stay tuned for my potato salad recipe as well the low carb version AND  pics from the dinner.

Life is all about finding Joy in the Journey!!

Talk soon,

Heather
