It is all about being social. Working online these days it's not nearly as easy to get a following, and find some loyal readers if you don't let them get to know who YOU are. Not just what your blog is about.
4 Things that will help with that in a huge wave.. way are:
- Get a Google account. I've said it before, and I will say it again. Find your old account, or make a new one. This is going to be so important in the coming days, weeks, and months.
- If you're Google account already has gmail - YAY! If not - Add it! I have been using my gmail account for about three weeks now as my main, and I LOVE it! One of the many really cool things about Gmail is how you can create a contact list, just by having friends.
- Create a Public Profile for your Google account. Let me (and everyone else,
) know who you are and what your likes and dislikes are. Be real! Whether your profile is for business purposes, or just because. Be who you are. - Use Google Reader for all your RSS needs. It's amazing, and actually, it's the only RSS link I show on my page now. I WANT you to subscribe to my blog! But I WANT YOU TO DO IT WITH Google Reader.
- Start Using Google Friend Connect (GFC) - Add the gadget to your blog, follow peoples sites. Add them as friends, if they have like interests. And certainly if you have them as friends go to their site to check it out, and show your support! ~ You want to make yourself available. Be friendly, and Be social!
Can you see the pattern here? That will help you prepare for the wave! The invites are just starting to trickle out. But this IS going to be the thing that changes the way people do business, or even just communicate in general online!
Get all this done. Follow my site, add me as a friend, say hello. I've been out doing the same this afternoon. Hey - all your blogs for the week are likely already done anyway, right. Grab your favorite beverage, and spend sometime being social this weekend. It'll be fun!!!
Hope that helps,
Have a great weekend... I hope I get to chat with YOU!

Somehow I knew you followed Chris Lang when I just skimmed through your post topic about using GFC, Google Reader, Gwave, and all the other great Google tools that Chris loves. So we have a mutual friend.
You have an awesome blog. Do you also follow Alex Syseof?

Since I have been back to blogging (only a few weeks now) I have become hooked on all of the Google gadgets… just love them! And yes Chris is a leading authority on it. I am really excited about the unfolding of gwave! Alex is another great guy and I have used many of his products. This blog is a direct result of his Expert Wordpress package.
It's great to have good mentors don't you think?
Good post – yes, I would add Google Analytics to your list here. I know its not strictly a 'social' tool but it sure does help you make sense of the visitors to your site.
Keep up the good work.

Thanks Peter, and thanks for visiting.
Actually I have not really used Google analytics much. I've heard it is a wonderful and it is on my list. I will have to get on it
Oh I'm an old fashioned kind of guy – I still use email instead of a reader. I just find it easier. Of course I should really move up to Google Reader and give it a try and free up my inbox. Rocque has mentioned it before and now you so I guess I'd better get on Google Friend Connect as well. Thanks for the reminder

Hi Luca!
You know once you do make the switch I'm sure you will find it much easier. when I got back to blogging just recently, I started using all the Google gadgets that I had never bothered with before… turns out I love them. And when you do add GFC make sure you come add me to your friends list.
Very informative. I have not tried that yet, but will in the future. Thanks
