Product Launch Strategies I totally DESPISE!

by Heather Masson on March 2, 2011

Is seems we are totally inundated these days with launches of new products that we just have to have, can't live without, or won't make any money online until we get them...

Really? You're Trying to SELL ME THIS?

There are new product launches every day of the week, but it's funny because most of them even seem to use the exact same sales letter now, and just change the name of the product.

The big bright red headline, with a video that goes on forever explaining why I  have to have this latest and greatest.  How whomever created this product was a poor boy nothing, barely surviving from pay cheque to pay cheque.  They suddenly discovered this method, and then spent tens of thousands of dollars to develop a system - just for me :D

What really gives me a chuckle is that they have all have tried every single thing online to make money and spent years going without - even when they aren't out of their Teen years yet.

One thing I am really starting to despise about all these sales letters is the blatant lies and mistruths.

For example, I was reading/listening to one sales letter in particular last week (the one that actually got me thinking about this post).  The product sounded pretty good actually (and it very well may be).  The creator started talking about exactly what I'm telling you, all these jazzed up sales letters that are total garbage and how he was putting a stop to them.

Later in the letter he said he was limiting his product to only ____ number of memberships because it was so powerful, and it couldn't be overused or would become ineffective (or something like that, you know that line)...

I thought - "Great, I'm going to promote this one".  So I go over to the JV page, and listen to that "sales letter" where the very same person explains how if you make ______ amount of sales you could win all of these cool prizes and make boatloads of money.

The thing that really boiled my blood was the sales letter was saying if one person sold exactly double the amount of what he said he was limiting the membership to in the sales letter, they'd win all this cool stuff.

Now how does that work? Thousands of affiliates are going to promote this product and go for the prize, but the membership is limited to 250 people???  It's just another line of crap.

This seems to be the norm now, and I am not really trying to point out one product in particular.  Most of the sales pages are exactly the same way.  This "tactic" of course is called "scarcity".  You want to make the buyer feel a sense of urgency, that they need to buy now rather than later.

I totally get thatBut do we have to use the "scarcity tactic" in a way that is really just spoon feeding the buyer a plate of horseshit? I don't think that builds a relationship of trust.

It really makes me NOT want the product (even if it's a good one) because I can't trust it.  Why put that stuff in there when everyone knows it's a line of garbage??  And if you are putting something like that in the letter, then stick to it.

How about if we "Market with some Integrity"?

There is a product being launched tomorrow (March 3rd) from a marketer that truly does have integrity.  His name is Matt Carter, and he is one of a handful of marketers that I actually have come to trust online.

The product is called Rapid Profit Formula, and it's going to be all about learning how to become a successful affiliate marketer of physical products.

Now I haven't seen the sales letter, and it may resemble the design that works to a degree.  I'm betting the difference will be that the sales letter will have integrity, as will the product.  I know that he will be using a "scarcity tactic" as well, but it will be one of a special price for launch week, with the price increasing after that.  You can check out the details here

So if you (like me) are fed up with the bullshit, and really want a product that will work from a guy you can trust, you check out The Rapid Profit Formula

Enjoy,

Heather
