Setting Goals, and Making a Plan
I’ve been finding it so easy to get carried away this last week. I’m like a giant human sponge, LOL!! I have so much to go through, and so much to learn and catch up on. I can spend hours a day consuming information!! I start on one site, and then they have a link I click, and so on down the line. But although that is very important. I need to limit the amount of time spent in sponge mode right now.
I’m back and setting up At home with Heather, to provide you my readers (as well as myself) relevant, easy to follow products and information on ways that we can earn money at home. So, I need to decide what the best use of my time will be, and make a plan. This can really be broken down into pieces.
The Best Use of my Time:
- Getting the website up and functional. This would include things like making sure my adsense is working, my page links are working, I stick with the template that I am using all of that good techie stuff.
- Keyword research and article writing. Part of finding traffic is writing about what you need to hear. Taking the time to research and find the correct content, and keywords will help bring the traffic which will hopefully turn into readers and friends.
- Social networking and link building. This is a really fun part. It’s where I get to take time and talk with you. Visit your sites, find out what you are interested in, make friends on the social sites. It’s when I can get into human sponge mode the fastest.
And especially right now, when I have been out of circulation for so long! - Learning and research. It is so important to always continue learning. Whether we are learning from reading a book, reading articles online, listening to podcasts and video courses, or just learning from human behavior. Learning is how we can grow (business and in life) — so important.
Goal Setting (How can I gauge my progress? )
- Increase my visitor count by 100%. This morning my unique visitor count is at 33.
- Increase my incoming links by at least 50. So far I don’t have any.
- Have a minimum of at least 4 new posts/week. Better get writing.
- Get a minimum of 200 new Twitter followers. Today I have 59.
- Have a net profit — even if it’s only a buck. That is less hosting expenses and any other costs I incur this month.
All of these goals are what I want to achieve by the end of September. I think they are modest enough to be realistic, and achievable. It’s not good, when starting out, to set your so high – that you can never get there. Remember, we really only 2 1/2 weeks, or 17 days left in the month.
Any extra time after that is gravy, and I can revert back to sponge mode, LOL. Of course some easy ways for you to help me out would be to link to me, follow me on twitter, and sign up for my RSS – that makes it easier to follow along.
I will report back to you on my progress the first few days of October. Hmm, this is gonna be fun.
